Enforced Collection Notices

Letter 3174(P) – This note does not mean you are safe.  I know of people who were levied right after receiving it.  Contact Form

The letter 3174(P) is sent to the taxpayer to inform him or her that the Internal Revenue Service intends to take enforced collection that may include placing a levy on your bank accounts, wages, receivables, commissions, etc. It could involve seizing and selling your property, such as real estate, vehicles, or business assets.

Since you have received this letter, the IRS claims that you must have ignored the other letters or notices that they sent you, asking that you make the payment for the outstanding tax amount. The IRS requests that you respond now to avoid further enforced collection action.

The letter will describe what penalties and interest they have charged you, and the applicable IRC sections. It will also outline the various periods, showing you the balances from prior notices, and the interest and the penalties they added to each prior balance. I’m not clear on the full significance of this letter. The IRS makes various attempts at getting people to realize the seriousness of paying their taxes. This is another attempt at getting you to resolve your IRS matters before enforced collection. Before you act “too quickly”, I suggest you read more of the free information on this site, and then call us to see how we can help you to not become a victim of the IRS or any unscrupulous so called “tax resolution professional”.
