Form 668W - Wage Levy

The form 668W is a wage levy document that is sent to the employer of the tax payer. This form or notice will be directed towards a particular taxpayer by their social security number. If the tax payer is a business entity then the account identifying number is the Employer Identification Number. According to form 668W, the IRS can levy the wages of a person until the outstanding amount has been paid in full. The wage levy is sent after several attempts have been made by IRS collections to resolve the outstanding tax liability with you.

Receiving the form 668W does not mean that all your wages will be taken by the IRS. You will be left a portion of the wages so that you will have sufficient money to maybe buy a little food and share rent with someone!  I don't know anyone who can survive on what's left.

You should fill out the exemption portion so you can get the biggest paycheck. We can help you do that, just call us at 713-774-4467. If you want your next full check, you need to take care of any delinquent tax filings and balances that are due.  Please examine this site for how to prepare for your contact with the IRS for the purpose of establishing an installment agreement. Basically you will file any delinquent returns, and pay any current payments of estimated taxes that are delinquent (or prove that you are not required to make one by providing your estimated tax calculation).

If you need more help regarding the form 668W, then do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I will assess your situation and then show you the best way to proceed under the circumstances. Immediate action is necessary. Any wage levy release must be received by your employer prior to the cut off for your next paycheck. Often the IRS will not release the levy until you provide them with all the information necessary to establish an installment agreement. Any un filed returns will have to be filed. Sometimes I can talk them into releasing the levy based on extreme hardship, so it really pays to get professional help after you have ignored prior requests for payment.
