Here’s a great example. Let’s say I put my suit on, stand tall over my employees and make commercials telling you I’m the largest IRS help firm in the world. I then find 5 people who actually like me, out of the 1,000′s of people I ripped off, and use them as testimonials. Sprinkle in some video tricks and voila, you now think I’m the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I don’t tell you that I lost my license, or that there are class action lawsuits against me. I just keep smiling and tell you how large my company is. Get the picture? When you ask “Why do you have complaints every month from people who say you lied to them and stole their money?” I respond “Well we represent a million people and you can’t please everyone, so of course there’s a list of complaints.”
And you know what? You, the scared taxpayer, actually believed it! Against your own better judgment, you believe it. These companies don’t exist because the government won’t shut them down. It’s because you, the scared taxpayers, support them. Why? Because you are greedy!

Wake up America; it is YOU, the greedy ones, who don’t take the time to look at the reputation and professional licensing of a company before hiring them. They will continue to exist, because you won’t take out the time to Google the name of the company with fraud, complaints, scam, etc. after the name. You won’t take the time to realize that licensed professional CPA firms, law firms, or enrolled agents can’t hide behind non licensed owners. In fact it’s against the CPA code of ethics to be part of a company that does not follow that state’s code of ethics for CPAS. It’s called “acting through others”. Anyway, you get my point.
1. Only hire a licensed professional CPA or law firm so you can be somewhat assured of recourse if you are ripped off.
2. Google the name of the person who will handle you case, and the name of the company, looking for complaints, rip offs, etc.
3. Pay attention to your “gut” feeling about the situation. If you don’t feel comfortable, then something is probably wrong.
