Bedford’s History
The first white settlers arrived in the present day city of Bedford in the 1850s. The first school in the settlement area was built in 1862. In the year 1877, a post office was opened in the region and the community was named Bedford. The town of Bedford was incorporated in 1953. At that time, Bedford’s population was just 475.
